Jhon Duran, who has scored 12 goals in all competitions this season despite limited starts, had been on Chelsea’s radar alongside Victor Osimhen as potential striker targets. However, after conducting background checks on Duran’s personality and character, Chelsea opted not to proceed with a move. Chelsea did make a late enquiry about Duran during discussions over Axel Disasi and Joao Felix’s potential moves to Villa, but by then, the 20-year-old had already set his sights on a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia. Arsenal also showed interest in Duran, but Al-Nassr’s offer was too good to turn down. Despite Chelsea’s need for a proven striker, manager Enzo Maresca and the club hierarchy felt Duran was not the right fit for the squad, and they will now continue their search for attacking reinforcements.
