Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana will miss the rest of the 2024-25 season, including the Club World Cup, after undergoing surgery on a recurring hamstring injury.
Wesley Fofana’s injury-plagued Chelsea career has suffered another blow, with the 24-year-old centre-back ruled out for the remainder of the season following surgery on a hamstring injury sustained after just returning from a three-month layoff. Fofana initially suffered the injury in December against Aston Villa and only returned to action in March, playing against Leicester and Arsenal before suffering a setback. He will now begin rehabilitation with Chelsea’s medical team and is expected to be available again for the start of the 2025-26 campaign.
This latest setback continues a long run of injuries for the former Leicester defender, who missed all of the 2023-24 season with an ACL injury and has managed only 14 appearances this term. Chelsea, currently sitting fourth in the Premier League, face Brentford next, and will need to reassess their defensive options for the season run-in without Fofana.
