Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has suggested that the club’s stadium plans could determine whether the ownership consortium, made up of Boehly, Clearlake Capital, and others, remains intact. Despite purchasing land near Stamford Bridge and considering the Earl’s Court site, Chelsea have yet to finalise a stadium development plan.
Boehly emphasised the complexity of the situation, noting the many stakeholders involved and the unique challenges of building within London. He admitted the future stadium direction will be a decisive moment for ownership unity, stating that if they don’t align, “we ultimately decide to go different ways.”
The ownership group previously explored the idea of buying one another out last year, although those talks did not progress. While internal tensions remain over cultural differences, Mauricio Pochettino’s departure, and the lack of silverware, Boehly insisted the consortium has mostly worked well together — especially in rebuilding the squad and aligning on a youthful, long-term strategy.
