Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has insisted that the club will not be forced to sell young stars Alejandro Garnacho or Kobbie Mainoo due to financial struggles, despite reported interest from Chelsea.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has made it clear that Manchester United will not offload key young talents like Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo despite the club’s financial difficulties. Reports had linked Garnacho with a potential move to Chelsea, but Ratcliffe stressed that any player sales would be based on performance needs, not financial necessity. He acknowledged United’s precarious financial state, revealing that the club would have run out of cash by the end of 2025 without his £232m investment.
However, cost-cutting measures, including job redundancies, are being implemented to stabilise the club without resorting to selling key assets. Meanwhile, Ratcliffe also commented on Marcus Rashford’s resurgence at Aston Villa, suggesting a move away from Manchester may have benefitted him.
