Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku could make a dramatic U-turn on his future at Stamford Bridge, as Enzo Maresca plans to give him more game time following Nicolas Jackson's injury.
Chelsea's head coach, Enzo Maresca, is preparing to hand Christopher Nkunku a bigger role in the squad, potentially changing the player's stance on leaving the club in the summer. Nkunku had been considering an exit, with Bayern Munich showing strong interest and personal terms reportedly agreed. However, Chelsea's lack of striker reinforcements in the January window, combined with Jackson’s eight-week absence, has opened the door for Nkunku to play a key role in the coming months.
Maresca has indicated that he sees Nkunku more as a No.10 rather than an out-and-out striker, meaning he could be deployed behind Cole Palmer, who may act as a false nine. If Nkunku can rediscover his form, Chelsea could either retain him or increase his transfer value ahead of a potential summer departure. With more than three years left on his £300,000-per-week contract, the Blues are in a strong position to negotiate should Bayern Munich or other suitors reignite their interest.
