Despite a hard-fought 2-1 victory against West Ham, Chelsea’s manager Enzo Maresca is facing criticism over the lack of fluency in his midfield. With the team’s form dipping to just two wins in their last eight league games, concerns have mounted over the balance in midfield. Paul Parker, a former Chelsea defender, has been particularly vocal, stating that Enzo Fernandez is too easily agitated and disrupts the stability that is needed. Parker suggested that dropping Fernandez in favour of a reunited midfield partnership between Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia would offer a more effective and balanced approach. According to Parker, Lavia, when fit, had displaced Fernandez earlier in the campaign and provided a more natural partnership with Caicedo. Additionally, Parker noted that while Nicolas Jackson is a hard-working forward, Chelsea need a more clinical, "Drogba-type" striker to truly step up their attacking threat.
