Former Chelsea manager Glenn Hoddle has backed Enzo Maresca to navigate the club’s current slump, advising him to ignore outside noise, settle on a consistent lineup, and find alternative goal threats beyond Cole Palmer.
With Chelsea’s form faltering and pressure mounting on Enzo Maresca, Glenn Hoddle has offered words of support, drawing from his own experience of a turbulent first season in charge at Stamford Bridge. Hoddle emphasised the importance of cutting out external criticism and staying committed to tactical beliefs, even in difficult times.
He believes Maresca’s frequent rotation has disrupted Chelsea’s rhythm, calling for a settled starting XI to build consistency. Injuries have played a role in Chelsea’s struggles, but Hoddle insists key players like Reece James and Marc Cucurella need to be given extended runs in the team.
Hoddle also highlighted Chelsea’s overreliance on Cole Palmer, who is struggling for form, and urged other attackers to step up. He sees Christopher Nkunku as a potential solution in a more traditional striker role and believes Pedro Neto needs regular starts on the right wing to reach his best level. Ultimately, he remains confident that Chelsea are close to turning their season around if they can find more attacking contributions outside of Palmer.
