Chelsea’s chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League have been given a significant boost, with the Premier League on track to secure an extra qualification spot due to strong performances in European competitions.
Despite Chelsea’s recent struggles, which have seen them slip to sixth place in the Premier League, their hopes of securing Champions League football next season have improved thanks to UEFA’s coefficient system. The top two leagues in UEFA’s rankings based on performances in the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League will receive an extra Champions League spot for the 2025/26 season.
With Premier League clubs performing well in Europe and Serie A teams struggling, England currently tops the coefficient rankings with 20.892 points, ahead of Spain (18.535). Italy (17.812) is now unlikely to catch up after AC Milan, Atalanta, and Juventus were knocked out in the Champions League play-offs.
If the Premier League secures the extra place, finishing in the top five would guarantee Chelsea a Champions League spot—providing them with a crucial lifeline in their push for European qualification.
