Talksport pundit Rory Jennings has delivered a brutal assessment of Chelsea’s struggles, labelling the team “terrible” and calling Enzo Maresca a “Championship manager” following back-to-back defeats against Brighton.
Chelsea’s woes continue after their latest loss to Brighton, and Rory Jennings did not hold back in his analysis of the club’s situation. Speaking on Talksport, the Chelsea supporter and pundit criticised both the squad and the manager, stating that Maresca is an “average manager” and that the team itself is simply not good enough.
Jennings pointed to a series of embarrassing results this season, including defeats to Ipswich, Fulham, and Brighton twice in the space of a week, to argue that Chelsea’s problems run deeper than just poor performances against one opponent. While he admitted that losing at the Amex was humiliating, he suggested that even worse results could still come.
Aside from Cole Palmer, whom he described as “elite,” and Moises Caicedo, whom he called “excellent,” Jennings believes the rest of Chelsea’s squad is largely “average.” He also mocked the concern over Nicolas Jackson’s injury, arguing that the striker isn’t a game-changing player in the first place.
Jennings even conceded that Chelsea might have been better off keeping Mauricio Pochettino, despite previously not being a fan of the Argentine coach. Ultimately, he believes the club’s problems stem from poor squad building, weak tactics, and a lack of experience at the managerial level.
With fan frustration growing and Chelsea’s form declining, Maresca faces increasing pressure to turn things around before the situation becomes untenable.
